´It was narrated that Abu Lubabah bin ‘Abdul-Mundhir said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Friday is the chief of days, the greatest day before Allah. It is greater before Allah then the Day of Adha and the Day of Fitr. It has five characteristics: On it Allah created Adam; on it Allah sent down Adam to this earth; on it there is a time during which a person does not ask Allah for anything but He will give it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything that is forbidden; on it the Hour will begin. There is no angel who is close to Allah, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain, and no sea that does not fear Friday.’”

Brief Explanation
1؎: There is much disagreement regarding the hour of acceptance (sa‘at al-ijabah) on Friday, that is, the moment when supplications are accepted. The preferred opinion is that it is an hour between ‘Asr and Maghrib. Some people say that this hour occurs during the interval between the imam sitting on the pulpit and the completion of the prayer. And Allah knows best. As for the statement: “so long as he does not ask for something unlawful,” that is, he does not supplicate for a sinful act such as adultery, theft, robbery, or murder. The non-acceptance of such a supplication is, in fact, better and more beneficial for the servant. This is the case with every supplication that is not accepted; it is understood that Allah Most High has placed the servant’s welfare in this. Man is not aware of his own outcome; something may be harmful for him, but he supplicates for it thinking it to be good.

Benefits and Issues:

This hadith is weak in its chain of narration.
However, some of the words of the mentioned narration, that is, “There are five things in it... up to the end,” are supported and authenticated by other sound evidences.

The creation of Adam (alayhis salam) is a great favor of Allah upon mankind.
Because we are all his descendants.
And, by virtue of being human, we are superior to all other creatures—provided that we attain the wealth of faith (iman) and righteous deeds (amal salih).

Allah, the Exalted, had said before creating Adam (alayhis salam):
“I am going to place a vicegerent on earth.”
The descent of Adam (alayhis salam) to the earth was the fulfillment of this promise of earthly vicegerency.
In this worldly life, Allah, the Exalted, has granted us the opportunity
that by performing righteous deeds, we may attain nearness to Allah and lofty ranks.
In this regard, the descent of Adam (alayhis salam) to earth is also a great favor of Allah upon us.

For the believer, even death is a favor from Allah.
Because only after passing through the stage of death does the period of worldly trial come to an end,
and the time for receiving the rewards of good deeds arrives.
Entry into Paradise and the vision of Allah, the Majestic and Exalted, are only possible after death.
For Adam (alayhis salam), Friday was important
because on this day he passed away and entered Paradise.
And for us, its significance is that this favor of Allah upon our forefather occurred on a Friday.

One of the honors of Friday is
that there is a special time in it for the acceptance of supplications,
during which a believer may ask for whatever he wishes for the good of this world and the Hereafter,
and he can attain it.

There are differing opinions among the scholars regarding the determination of this special hour on Friday.
According to a hadith in Sahih Muslim, that hour is from the time the imam sits on the pulpit until the prayer is finished. (Sahih Muslim, al-Jumu‘ah, Chapter: On the Hour in Which Supplication is Answered on Friday, Hadith: 853)
According to another hadith, it is the last hour of the day, between ‘Asr and Maghrib. (Sunan Abi Dawud, al-Salat, Chapters on Jumu‘ah, Chapter: Which Hour is the Hour of Response on Friday, Hadith: 1048)
That is, if the whole day is divided into twelve parts,
the last part is the time for the acceptance of supplications.

The Day of Resurrection is a day of Allah’s mercy, but at the same time, it is also a day when criminals and sinners will be punished.
Many terrifying events are to occur on that day.
Because of this awareness, all creation remains fearful on Fridays, thinking that perhaps this Friday will be the Day of Resurrection.
