Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
(1)
Included in humility (khushu‘) is that one should stand with lowered gaze. If, for some reason, the gaze is raised towards the qiblah, it is permissible. See: (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Adhan, Chapter: Raising the Eyes Towards the Imam in Prayer, Hadith: 746)

(2)
Raising the gaze towards the sky during prayer is prohibited in the same way as looking to the right or left is prohibited.

(3)
Sometimes, the punishment for sins can also be given in this world.
