➊ The aforementioned narration has been declared weak in its chain of transmission by our esteemed researcher, whereas other scholars have deemed it authentic due to supporting evidences, and in light of the proofs, their opinion appears closer to correctness. Therefore, despite the aforementioned narration being weak in its chain, it is still actionable and valid as evidence. For further details, see: (Al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad: 7/186, 188).
➋ This hadith is proof that only such breastfeeding (radā‘ah) establishes prohibition (of marriage) which occurs during the period of two years of age, because it is from this milk that the child is nourished, his bones are strengthened and fortified by it, and his flesh is formed from it.
