Hadith 872
وعن حكيم بن معاوية عن أبيه رضي الله عنه قال : قلت : يا رسول الله! ما حق زوج أحدنا عليه ؟ قال : « تطعمها إذا أكلت ، وتكسوها إذا اكتسيت ، ولا تضرب الوجه ، ولا تقبح ، ولا تهجر إلا في البيت ». رواه أحمد وأبو داود والنسائي وابن ماجه ، وعلق البخاري بعضه ، وصححه ابن حبان والحاكم.
Narrated Hakim bin Mu'awiyah on the authority of his father (RA): I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the rights of a wife of one of us on her husband?" He replied, "You should give her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, not strike her on the face, and do not revile her or desert her except within the house." [Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah, al-Bukhari mentioned part of it [the last sentence] as Mu'allaq (a broken chain from the side of the collector, i.e. al-Bukhari), Ibn Hibban and al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic)].
