Hadith 831

ولمسلم عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال لرجل تزوج امرأة : « أنظرت إليها؟» قال : لا قال : «اذهب فانظر إليها».
Muslim reported from Abu Hurairah (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) asked a man who had intended to marry a woman, "Have you looked at her" He replied, "No." He said, "Go and look at her."

«أخرجه مسلم، النكاح، باب ندب النظر إلي وجه المرأة وكفيها لمن يريد تزويجها، حديث:1424.»©Explanation:
➊ In this hadith, the command is not for obligation but for permissibility, as is evident from the previous hadith.
➋ This looking should take place before the proposal of marriage, because if one rejects after the proposal, it may cause distress to the girl's family.
