Hadith 748

وعن جابر رضي الله عنه : أن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم نحر ثلاثا وستين وأمر عليا أن يذبح الباقي. الحديث. رواه مسلم.
Narrated Jabir (RA): "The Prophet (ﷺ) slaughtered sixty-three (sacrificial) camels and ordered 'Ali to slaughter the remainder [thirty-seven]." The reported mentioned the rest of the Hadith. [Reported by Muslim].

From this hadith, it is established that appointing an agent (wakil) for the slaughtering of the sacrificial animal is permissible, just as the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) appointed Ali (radi Allahu anhu) as his agent on the occasion of Hajjat al-Wada‘, and he slaughtered 37 camels.
