Narrated 'Aishah (RA): I said, "O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has brought you clothes from Syria. What if you sent someone to him, and you get from him two garments on credit till it is easy for you to repay?" So he sent someone to him, but he refused. [al-Hakim and al-Baihaqi reported it, and its narrators are reliable].

➊ According to this hadith, it is permissible to purchase something on credit.
➋ The cloth seller refused to give the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) the item on credit most likely due to personal enmity and hostility.
The commentators have written that he was a Jew and harbored enmity towards the blessed person of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); therefore, he refused.
