وعن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنهما قال : نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم عن بيع الصبرة من التمر لا يعلم مكيلها بالكيل المسمى من التمر. رواه مسلم.
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade selling a quantity of dates whose measure was unknown for a specified (known) quantity of dates. [Reported by Muslim].

In this hadith, it is prohibited to sell a heap of something—whose weight or measure is unknown—in exchange for a specified quantity or weight of the same kind, because the amount and weight of the heap are not known. Therefore, one of the parties may incur a loss while the other gains without justification; for this reason, such a transaction has been declared forbidden.
Wherever there is a possibility of excess or deficiency, that too will be included under this same prohibition.
