Hadith 633

A’ishah (RAA) narrated, The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When one of you threw the pebbles and shaved his hair, everything including perfume becomes lawful for him except women (i.e. sexual intercourse).” Related by Ahmad and Abu Dawud with a weak chain of narrators.

633 Lexical Explanation:
«الا النساء» means that intercourse with wives is not permissible, because intimacy and conjugal relations with wives become permissible only after the Tawaf al-Ifadah.
«و فى اسناده ضعف» This is because in its chain of narration is a narrator, Hajjaj ibn Arta’ah, about whom there is some criticism. However, from other authentic ahadith, the issue is established in the same manner: that on the tenth (of Dhul-Hijjah), after the stoning (rami), all other prohibitions for the pilgrim become permissible except for the wife.

1978. Commentary: Although there is a difference of opinion regarding the authenticity and weakness of this hadith, the issue is established in the same manner from other ahadith: that on the tenth day, after stoning (rami), all prohibitions for the pilgrim except his wife become permissible. This is termed, in technical language, as partial release (hal naqis) or minor release (hal asghar). After the Tawaf al-Ifadah, intercourse with the wife also becomes permissible, and this is called complete release (hal kamil) or major release (hal akbar).
