وعن زيد بن ثابت رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم تجرد لإهلاله واغتسل. رواه الترمذي وحسنه.
Zaid bin Thabit (RAA) narrated, ‘When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) intended to make Ihram for Hajj, he would wash, and take off his ordinary clothes (and put on his white Ihram)." Related by At-Tirmidhi who declared it to be Hadith-Hasan.

This hadith indicates that performing a ritual bath (ghusl) for entering the state of ihram is recommended (mustahabb).
This is the opinion of the majority of scholars,
while some have considered it obligatory (wajib).

(In the chain of narration, Abdullah bin Ya'qub is of unknown status (majhul al-hal),
but due to supporting narrations and corroborating evidence, this hadith is classified as sahih li ghayrihi.)
