Narrated Sa'd (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) supplicated (Allah) for rain saying, "O Allah, cover all the land with accumulated, thundering, plunging and lightening clouds from which You would send us down a showery, drizzly, and pouring rain. O Possessor of Glory and Honour." [Reported by Abu 'Awanah in his Sahih].

There are several supplications for seeking rain (istisqa) transmitted from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with different wordings. However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah, after mentioning this supplication here, has remained silent regarding the ruling on the hadith. In "Talkhis al-Habir," he writes concerning it that it contains many rare (gharib) words, and that Abu Awanah has narrated it with an extremely weak chain of transmission.
(Talkhis al-Habir: 2/99) Furthermore, our esteemed researcher has also declared its chain to be severely weak.
