عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: « الفطر يوم يفطر الناس والأضحى يوم يضحي الناس» . رواه الترمذي.
Narrated 'Aishah (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "('Eid) al-Fitr is the day on which the people break the fast, and ('Eid) al-Adha is the day the people offer sacrifices." [Reported by at-Tirmidhi].

«أخرجه الترمذي، الصوم، باب ما جاء في الفطر والأضحي متي يكون، حديث:802، وقال: "حسن غريب صحيح".»©Explanation:
➊ The first thing that is understood from this hadith is that the people of Islam have only two Eids: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Apart from these two, there is absolutely no concept or trace of a third or fourth Eid anywhere in Islam. Some Muslims have started celebrating several other Eids, even though they have no status whatsoever in Islamic law (shari‘ah).
➋ The second point that is understood is that Eids teach the lesson of collectivity. The concept of collectivity is present in Islamic acts of worship. An individual cannot celebrate an Eid on his own merely by sighting the moon; rather, he should conform to the majority of people in performing Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and even if he attains complete certainty, he should still perform the Eid prayers together with the general public.
