Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "Whoever takes a bath, then comes to al-Jumu'ah prayer, then prays what was fixed for him, then keeps silent till the Imam finishes the Khutbah (religious talk - sermon), and then prays along with him - his sins (committed) between that time and the next Friday will be forgiven, with an addition of three days more."
In this hadith, there is great encouragement for the Friday prayer (Jumu‘ah). Whoever comes after performing ritual bath (ghusl), remains engaged in remembrance and worship before the arrival of the preacher (khatib), listens silently to the sermon when the imam begins the khutbah, and performs the Friday prayer, then the sins committed from one Friday to the next, and an additional three days, are forgiven for him—whether those sins are minor (saghirah) or major (kabirah).
However, the majority (jumhur) are of the opinion that only minor sins are forgiven.
But the hadith does not support the position of the majority.
And Allah knows best.
