«أخرجه مسلم، الجمعة، باب ما يقرأ في يوم الجمعة، حديث:879، وحديث النعمان بن بشير أخرجه مسلم، حديث:878.»©Explanation:
➊ From this hadith, it is understood that in certain prayers, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would generally recite specific surahs. In following the example (Sunnah) of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, those same surahs should be recited in those prayers. This does not mean that reciting other surahs besides these is prohibited.
➋ The recitation of the aforementioned surahs in the Eid and Jumu‘ah prayers contains many hidden wisdoms. Among these surahs, the recitation of Surah al-Jumu‘ah carries the wisdom that it encourages striving and making an effort to attend the Friday prayer, which indicates the importance of Jumu‘ah. Along with sincere Muslims, hypocrites (munafiqun) would also attend the Friday prayer; therefore, Surah al-Munafiqun would be recited to admonish them, so that they would be rebuked. Furthermore, Surah al-A‘la and Surah al-Ghashiyah contain frequent mention of the conditions of the Hereafter, so these two are recited as a reminder of the Hereafter. In Surah al-Jumu‘ah, the excellence of Prophethood and its four wisdoms are also mentioned, and the favor of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam upon the Ummah is recalled; attention is also drawn towards the remembrance of Allah. In Surah al-Munafiqun, along with rebuke and reprimand regarding hypocrisy, there is encouragement towards giving charity and alms.
