Hadith 321

وعن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم رأى في أصحابه تأخرا فقال لهم : « تقدموا فائتموا بي وليأتم بكم من بعدكم». رواه مسلم.
Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA): When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saw a tendency among his Companions of going to the back he said, "Come forward and follow my lead and let those behind you follow you." [Reported by Muslim].

Explanation:
➊ The first point that is understood from this hadith is that the rank and status of the first row in congregational prayer is greater and more virtuous than the other rows. The second point is that those in the first row should follow the imam. For this necessity, it is permissible to look at the imam, and those in the second row should follow the followers in the first row in the same manner.

➋ It is also understood from this hadith that if a worshipper cannot directly see the imam nor hear his voice, then he should follow another follower (muqtadi).

➌ From this, it is also implicitly derived that if someone does not have direct knowledge of something, he should acquire it from another knowledgeable person.
