Takhrij:
«أخرجه أحمد: 1 /403، وابن حبان(الموارد)، حديث:2423، وسنده حسن وله شاهد عندأحمد:6 /68، 155.»©Explanation:
➊ Regarding the mentioned supplication, it is commonly known among us as the supplication for looking into a mirror, whereas the narration in which looking into a mirror is explicitly mentioned is weak.
Therefore, it is not correct to restrict this supplication specifically to looking into a mirror; rather, this supplication can be recited at any time, whether while looking into a mirror or otherwise.
And Allah knows best.
For further details, see: (Al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad: 6/373, 374 and 40/457, 458) ➋ You (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were, in terms of creation and character, the most virtuous and exalted in the universe.
This supplication of yours was, in reality, for the continuity of this blessing and to teach the ummah.
