Takhrij:
«ضعيف»
[ مسند احمد 85/6]
For detailed takhrij and criticism, see: [سلسله الاحاديث الضعيفه 793]
Vocabulary:
« اَلشؤمُ» "Nahoosat" (ill-omenedness) is the opposite of «اليمن», which means to be blessed.
Benefits:
The real ill-omenedness is bad character.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) negated «شوم» (ill-omenedness) in anything. In some ahadith, it is mentioned that if there were to be ( «شوم» ) ill-omenedness in anything, it would be in a woman, a horse, and a house. [بخاري ۔ الجهاد/47 ]
From this, it is understood that nothing is inherently ill-omened; rather, it is due only to bad qualities that something becomes ill-omened. For example, if a woman is foul-mouthed, a horse is stubborn, or a house is cramped and unhealthy. In the hadith under discussion, it is precisely this that is explained: the real ill-omenedness is bad character. Foul speech, miserliness, envy, mercilessness, and similar traits are such that whoever possesses them cannot live a life of happiness. Rather, due to these evil morals, his existence becomes a cause of lack of blessing for himself and for others. If he corrects his character, then this ill-omenedness can also be removed.
