وعن أنس رضي الله عنه قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم : « طوبى لمن شغله عيبه عن عيوب الناس » أخرجه البزار بإسناد حسن.
Anas (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Blessed is he who is preoccupied with his defects rather than those of other people.” Related by Al-Bazzar with a good chain of narrators.

Manawi said: It has been narrated by Askari from Anas radi Allahu anhu, by Abu Nu‘aym from Husayn ibn ‘Ali radi Allahu anhuma, and by Bazzar from the hadith of Anas radi Allahu anhu. ‘Iraqi said: And all of these chains of narration are weak. [توضيح الاحكام ]
Vocabulary:
«طوبي» is derived from tayyib, on the pattern of «فعلي». Originally it was «طيبي», but when the preceding letter received a dammah, it was changed to a waw. The meaning is goodness, purity, a good life; in addition, it is the name of a tree in Paradise. It is narrated from Abu Sa‘id radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
«طوبي شجرة فى الجنة مسيرة مائة عام ثياب اهل الجنة تخرج من اكمامها» [حديث حسن مسند احمد و ابن حبان ۔ صحيح الجامع الصغير 3918]
“Ṭūbā is a tree in Paradise whose expanse is a hundred years; the garments of the people of Paradise will come forth from its sheaths.”
Benefits:
The one who is deserving of the best and most pleasant life in this world and the Hereafter, and of the tree Ṭūbā in Paradise, is the person who is so engrossed in seeing his own faults, removing them, or concealing them, that he has no opportunity to seek out the faults of others. This does not mean that, while observing his own faults, he abandons the obligation of forbidding evil (nahi ‘an al-munkar), for forbidding evil is obligatory. The intent is that he is so occupied with his own self-reformation and so veiled and ashamed by his own sins that he neither seeks out the faults of others nor mentions anyone’s faults in gatherings.
