«أخرجه مسلم، الحج، باب جواز الاِشتراك في الهدي، حديث:1318.»©Explanation:
This rule and principle of slaughtering a camel or cow on behalf of seven people pertains to Hajj and Umrah.
Therefore, during Hajj and Umrah, only seven people may share in a cow or camel.
Whereas, in the case of the general (non-pilgrimage) sacrifice, it is permissible for up to ten people to share in a camel.
Accordingly, it is narrated from Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) that we were with the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) on a journey.
When the time for sacrifice came, seven of us shared in a cow and ten of us in a camel.
