وعن أبي ثعلبة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال : « إذا رميت بسهمك فغاب عنك فأدركته فكله ما لم ينتن » أخرجه مسلم.
Abu Tha'labah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When you shoot your arrow and the game has gone our of sight, eat it when you come upon it, provided it has not become rotten."

Explanation:
From this hadith, it is understood that if someone hunts a bird and, after being wounded, it falls in a place out of the hunter’s sight, and is later found:
If it is found dead in water, then it is unlawful (haram); if it is found alive, then it should be slaughtered (zabh); and if it is found dead on land and there is no mark on its body except the mark of the arrow, then it is lawful (halal).
However, if it has become putrid and emits a foul odor, then it is not lawful (halal).
