Hadith 1144

وعن أسماء بنت أبي بكر رضي الله عنهما قالت : نحرنا على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فرسا فأكلناه. متفق عليه.
Asma' bint Abi Bakr (RAA) narrated, 'During the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ), we slaughtered a horse and ate it.' Agreed upon.

«أخرجه البخاري، الذبائح والصيد، باب النحو والذبح، حديث:5512، ومسلم، الصيد والذبائح، باب إباحة أكل الحوم الخيل، حديث:1942.»©Explanation:
This hadith proves that eating horse meat is permissible (halal), as has already been mentioned at the beginning of this chapter in the hadith of Jabir radi Allahu anhu.
Note! There is no reliable evidence for the prohibition of horse meat.
