Hadith 1143

وعن أبي قتادة رضي الله عنه في قصة الحمار الوحشي : فأكل منه النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم . متفق عليه.
Abu Qatadah narrated concerning the zebra. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ate from it.' Agreed upon. (refer to hadith no.753)

➊ This hadith proves that the wild donkey is lawful (halal), and there is consensus (ijma‘) on its permissibility. (Subul al-Salam)
➋ This hadith of Abu Qatadah radi Allahu anhu has already been discussed in some detail earlier under the Book of Hajj, Chapter of Ihram (599).
