Ibn 'Umar (RAA) narrated, 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent a Sariyah (a small army for Jihad) to Najd, and I was among them. They got many camels as spoils and each one's share was twelve camels, and they were given an additional camel each.'. Agreed upon.

This hadith proves that a warrior (ghazi) can be given, in addition to his allotted share of the spoils of war (mal-e-ghanima), an extra amount as well. However, there is a difference of opinion as to whether this extra portion should be taken from the original spoils, from the khums (one-fifth), or from the khumus al-khums (one-fifth of the one-fifth).
The correct view appears to be that all of these options are permissible.
