Explanation:
➊ In all editions and commentaries of Bulugh al-Maram, "bihi" is mentioned after "nafsahu," whereas in Sahih Muslim, "bihi" comes first and "nafsahu" comes after.
➋ According to this hadith, it is obligatory to have at least a firm intention for jihad fi sabilillah (striving in the path of Allah).
If the opportunity to actually participate in jihad fi sabilillah arises, one should not avoid participating in it; rather, one should consider such an opportunity a blessing. And if the opportunity does not arise, then one should remain in anticipation of it. In other words, according to the situation, jihad fi sabilillah is obligatory upon the believer at all times, and Islamic life is intrinsically linked to this spirit of sacrifice.
If a believer forgets his very objective, then what difference remains between a believer and a disbeliever?
The very duty assigned to a believer is the elevation of the word of Allah (kalimatullah).
If he shows negligence towards his true duty, then he will be committing injustice against himself.
