Hadith 1026

وعن عرفجة بن شريح رضي الله عنه قال : سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يقول : « من أتاكم وأمركم جميع يريد أن يفرق جماعتكم فاقتلوه ». أخرجه مسلم.
Arfajah bin Shuraih (RAA) narrated, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “He who comes to you when you are united and wants to disunite your community, kill him.” Related by Muslim.

This hadith proves that when all the Muslims appoint one person as their caliph and ruler, then whoever becomes active in causing division and discord among the Muslims and tries to create differences among them, he is liable to be killed.

© Hadith Narrator:
«حضرت عرفجہ بن شُرَیْح رضی اللہ عنہ » The letter “Ayn” has a fathah, the “Fa” has a fathah, and the “Ra” is sakin (without a vowel).
(And “Shurayh” is in the diminutive form.) Some have also mentioned his father’s name as Sarih, Tarih, Sharik, or Dharih, etc.
He was called Ashja‘i due to being from the tribe of Ashja‘.
He is a well-known companion (sahabi).
He settled in Kufa.
