The Book of Tauhid (Islamic Monotheism)

بَابُ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: {بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ} :

Chapter. The Statement of Allah: “Nay! This is a Glorious Quran (Inscribed), in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet).” (V.85:21,22)

Hadith 7553
وقَالَ لِي خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا قَضَى اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ كَتَبَ كِتَابًا عِنْدَهُ غَلَبَتْ ، أَوْ قَالَ : سَبَقَتْ رَحْمَتِي غَضَبِي فَهُوَ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "Before Allah created the creations, He wrote a Book (wherein He has written): My Mercy has preceded my Anger." and that (Book) is written with Him over the Throne."
{وَالطُّورِ وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ}. قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : مَكْتُوبٌ يَسْطُرُونَ يَخُطُّونَ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ جُمْلَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَأَصْلِهِ مَا يَلْفِظُ مَا يَتَكَلَّمُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : يُكْتَبُ الْخَيْرُ وَالشَّرُّ يُحَرِّفُونَ يُزِيلُونَ وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يُزِيلُ لَفْظَ كِتَابٍ مِنْ كُتُبِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يُحَرِّفُونَهُ يَتَأَوَّلُونَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ تَأْوِيلِهِ دِرَاسَتُهُمْ تِلَاوَتُهُمْ وَاعِيَةٌ حَافِظَةٌ وَتَعِيَهَا تَحْفَظُهَا ، وَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ لِأُنْذِرَكُمْ بِهِ يَعْنِي أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ وَمَنْ بَلَغَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ فَهُوَ لَهُ نَذِيرٌ .
And (in Surah At-Tur) He said «والطور. وكتاب مسطور»: "By the Mount, and by a Book inscribed." Qatadah said «مسطور»: it means "written," and from this is «يسطرون» meaning "they write." «في أم الكتاب» means "in the original collected Book." As for what is mentioned in Surah Qaf «ما يلفظ من قول», its meaning is that whatever word he utters is written in his record of deeds. And Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: the angel writes down good and evil. «يحرفون»: "They distort the words from their places," because it is not possible for anyone to completely remove any word from Allah's Book, but they make distortion, meaning they explain it with meanings that are not its original meanings. In «وان كنا عن دراستهم», by «دراست» is meant recitation. «واعية», which is in Surah Al-Haqqah, means "one who remembers." «وتعيها» means "he remembers." And as for what is (in Surah Yunus) «وأوحي إلي هذا القرآن لأنذركم به», in «كم» the address is to the people of Makkah, and by «ومن بلغ» all the rest of the worlds are meant; this Qur'an is a warner to all of them.

Hadith 7554
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي غَالِبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ كِتَابًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ ، إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِي فَهُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ " .
Narrated Abu Hurairah (ra): I heard Allah's Messenger (saws) saying: "Before Allah created the creations, He wrote a Book (wherein He has written): "My Mercy has preceded my Anger.' And that is written with Him over the Throne." (see Hadith 3194)
