Hadith 7522
Narrated `Ikrima: Ibn `Abbas said, "How can you ask the people of the Scriptures about their Books while you have Allah's Book (the Qur'an) which is the most recent of the Books revealed by Allah, and you read it in its pure undistorted form?"
And (in Surah Al-Anbiya) He said «ما يأتيهم من ذكر من ربهم محدث‏»: "No new command comes to them from their Lord..." And Allah the Exalted said (in Surah At-Talaq) «لعل الله يحدث بعد ذلك أمرا»: "It may be that Allah will bring about a new matter after that." The only point is that Allah's bringing about a new matter is not similar to the creation's bringing about something new. Because Allah the Exalted said (in Surah Ash-Shura) «ليس كمثله شىء وهو السميع البصير‏»: "There is nothing like unto Him (neither in essence nor in attributes), and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing." And Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): that Allah the Exalted gives whatever new command He wills, and He has given the new command that you should not speak during prayer.

Narrated 'Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah: `Abdullah bin `Abbas said, "O the group of Muslims! How can you ask the people of the Scriptures about anything while your Book which Allah has revealed to your Prophet contains the most recent news from Allah and is pure and not distorted? Allah has told you that the people of the Scriptures have changed some of Allah's Books and distorted it and wrote something with their own hands and said, 'This is from Allah, so as to have a minor gain for it. Won't the knowledge that has come to you stop you from asking them? No, by Allah, we have never seen a man from them asking you about that (the Book Al-Qur'an ) which has been revealed to you.
