(Chapter.) The Statement of Allah: "Except him who is forced thereto and whose heart is at rest with Faith, but such as open their breast to disbelief, on them is wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a great torment." (V.16:106)
Narrated Abi Huraira: The Prophet used to invoke Allah in his prayer, "O Allah! Save `Aiyash bin Abi Rabi`a and Salama bin Hisham and Al-Walid bin Al-Walid; O Allah! Save the weak among the believers; O Allah! Be hard upon the tribe of Mudar and inflict years (of famine) upon them like the (famine) years of Joseph."
And in Surah Al-Imran it is stated: "Here it is possible that you may take precaution to protect yourselves from the disbelievers. Outwardly, you may become their friends, that is, practice taqiyyah (dissimulation)." And in Surah An-Nisa it is stated: "Indeed, those whose souls the angels take while they have wronged themselves, the angels will say to them, 'What were you engaged in?' They will reply, 'We were oppressed in the land.' And for us, appoint from Your power a protector." Until the end of the verse. Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said: In this verse, Allah the Exalted has excused those weak people from not fulfilling Allah's commands, and the one who is forced is also considered weak, because if someone is compelled to do what Allah has forbidden, then he is excused. And Imam Hasan al-Basri said that the permissibility of taqiyyah remains until the Day of Judgment. And Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said that if someone is forced by thieves (to divorce his wife), and then he divorces her, that divorce does not take effect. This is also the saying of Ibn Zubair, Sha'bi, and Hasan. And the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Actions are dependent upon intentions."
