كِتَاب الدَّعَوَاتِ
The Book of Invocations
1
بَابُ وَلِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ دَعْوَةٌ مُسْتَجَابَةٌ:
Chapter. For every Prophet there is one (special) invocation which is surely granted by Allah.
2 بَابُ أَفْضَلِ الاِسْتِغْفَارِ:Chapter. Afdal Al-Istighfar (the best way of asking for forgiveness from Allah).
3 بَابُ اسْتِغْفَارِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ:Chapter. The Prophet seeking of Allah’s forgiveness by daytime and at night.
4 بَابُ التَّوْبَةِ:Chapter. At-Tauba (turning to Allah in repentance).
5 بَابُ الضَّجْعِ عَلَى الشِّقِّ الأَيْمَنِ:Chapter. Lying on one’s right side.
6 بَابُ إِذَا بَاتَ طَاهِرًا:Chapter. (The superiority of a person) who sleeps with ablution.
7 بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا نَامَ:Chapter. What to say on going to bed.
8 بَابُ وَضْعِ الْيَدِ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ الْخَدِّ الأَيْمَنِ:Chapter. Putting one’s right hand under one’s right cheek on sleeping.
9 بَابُ النَّوْمِ عَلَى الشِّقِّ الأَيْمَنِ:Chapter. Sleeping on the right side.
10 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ إِذَا انْتَبَهَ بِاللَّيْلِ:Chapter.The invocation which may be said by one who wakes up at night.
11 بَابُ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالتَّسْبِيحِ عِنْدَ الْمَنَامِ:Chapter. Saying Takbir (Allahu Akbar) and Tasbih (Subhan Allah) on going to bed.
12 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ عِنْدَ الْمَنَامِ:Chapter. Taking refuge with Allah (from evil), and the recitation (of Quran) before going to bed.
13 بَابٌ:Chapter.
14 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ نِصْفَ اللَّيْلِ:Chapter. Invocation in the middle of the night.
15 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْخَلاَءِ:Chapter. What to say when going to the lavatory.
16 بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ:Chapter. What to say when one gets up in the morning.
17 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ:Chapter. Invocation during the Salat (prayer).
18 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ بَعْدَ الصَّلاَةِ:Chapter. The invocation after the Salat (prayer).
19 بَابُ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: {وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ} :Chapter. The Statement of Allah: “...And invoke Allah for them...”.
20 بَابُ مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنَ السَّجْعِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ:Chapter. What rhymed prose is disapproved in invocations.
21 بَابُ لِيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ، فَإِنَّهُ لاَ مُكْرِهَ لَهُ:Chapter. One should appeal to Allah with determination, for nobody can force Him against His Will.
22 بَابُ يُسْتَجَابُ لِلْعَبْدِ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ:Chapter.
23 بَابُ رَفْعِ الأَيْدِي فِي الدُّعَاءِ:Chapter. The raising of the hands on invoking (Allah).
24 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ غَيْرَ مُسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةِ:Chapter. To invoke Allah while not facing the Qiblah.
25 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ:Chapter. To invoke Allah while facing the Qiblah.
26 بَابُ دَعْوَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِخَادِمِهِ بِطُولِ الْعُمُرِ وَبِكَثْرَةِ مَالِهِ:Chapter. The invocation of the Prophet on behalf of his servant that he may have a long life and a big fortune.
27 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ:Chapter. To invoke Allah at a time of distress.
28 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلاَءِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from the difficult moments of a calamity.
29 بَابُ دُعَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اللَّهُمَّ الرَّفِيقَ الأَعْلَى»:Chapter. The invocation of the Prophet , “O Allah! (Let me join) the Highest Companions." (See Quran V.4:69)
30 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ بِالْمَوْتِ وَالْحَيَاةِ:Chapter. The invocation for death or life.
31 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ لِلصِّبْيَانِ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَمَسْحِ رُءُوسِهِمْ:Chapter. To invoke for Allah’s Blessings upon the children, and rubbing their heads (gently with the hand).
32 بَابُ الصَّلاَةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:Chapter. As-Salat upon the Prophet.
33 بَابُ هَلْ يُصَلَّى عَلَى غَيْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:Chapter. Can one (ask Allah) to send Salat on anybody other than the Prophet? And the Statement of Allah: "...And invoke Allah for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them..." (V.9:103)
34 بَابُ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ آذَيْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْهُ لَهُ زَكَاةً وَرَحْمَةً»:Chapter. The statement of the Prophet: "(O Allah!) If I should harm somebody, let that be a means of purification and mercy for him."
35 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ:CHAPT ER. To seek refuge with Allah from AI-Fitan (trials and afflictions).
36 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from being overpowered by (other) men.
37 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ:Chapter. To seek refuge (with Allah) from the punishment of the grave.
38 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from the Fitnah (trial and affliction) of life and death.
39 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنَ الْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from all kinds of sins and from being in debt.
40 بَابُ الاِسْتِعَاذَةِ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَالْكَسَلِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from cowardice and laziness.
41 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from miserliness.
42 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from senile old age.
43 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ بِرَفْعِ الْوَبَاءِ وَالْوَجَعِ:Chapter. To invoke Allah to take away epidemic and diseases.
44 بَابُ الاِسْتِعَاذَةِ مِنْ أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِتْنَةِ النَّارِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from senile old age and from the Fitnah (trial and affliction), of this world and from the Fitnah of the Hell-fire.
45 بَابُ الاِسْتِعَاذَةِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنَى:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from the Fitnah (trial and affliction etc.) of wealth.
46 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from the Fitnah (trial and affliction) of poverty.
47 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ بِكَثْرَةِ الْمَالِ مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ:Chapter. The invocation (to invoke Allah) for an increase in wealth and offspring, and for Allah’s Blessing.
48 بَاب الدُّعَاءِ بِكَثْرَةِ الولد مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ(47b) Chapter. To invoke Allah for an increase of offspring, along with His Blessings.
49 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الاِسْتِخَارَةِ:Chapter. The invocation on making Istikharah (an appeal to Allah to guide you on the right path as regards a certain matter).
50 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْوُضُوءِ:Chapter. Invoking Allah while performing ablution.
51 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ إِذَا عَلاَ عَقَبَةً:Chapter. Invoking Allah while ascending a high place.
52 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ إِذَا هَبَطَ وَادِيًا:Chapter. Invoking Allah while going down a valley.
53 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا أَوْ رَجَعَ:Chapter. The invocation while going on a journey or returning from a journey.
54 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ لِلْمُتَزَوِّجِ:Chapter. Invocation for a bridegroom.
55 بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَتَى أَهْلَهُ:Chapter. What one should say before having sexual intercourse with his wife.
56 بَابُ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً»:Chapter. The statement of the Prophet: “Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and save us from this torment of the Fire!" (V.2:201)
57 بَابُ التَّعَوُّذِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا:Chapter. To seek refuge with Allah from the Fitnah (trial and affliction) of the world.
58 بَابُ تَكْرِيرِ الدُّعَاءِ:Chapter. To repeat the invocation.
59 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ:Chapter. To invoke Allah against Al-Mushrikun.
60 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ:Chapter. Invocation in favour of Al-Mushrikun.
61 بَابُ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ»:Chapter. The statement of the Prophet: “O Allah! Forgive my past and future sins.”
62 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ فِي السَّاعَةِ الَّتِي فِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ:Chapter. To invoke Allah during a particular time on Friday (when the invocation is accepted).
63 بَابُ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يُسْتَجَابُ لَنَا فِي الْيَهُودِ، وَلاَ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُمْ فِينَا»:Chapter. The statement of the Prophet: “Our invocation against the Jews will be accepted (by Allah), but their invocations against us will not be accepted.”
64 بَابُ التَّأْمِينِ:Chapter. The saying of Amin.
65 بَابُ فَضْلِ التَّهْلِيلِ:Chapter. The superiority of saying, "Lailaha illallah."
66 بَابُ فَضْلِ التَّسْبِيحِ:Chapter. The superiority of Tasbih [i.e., saying Subhan Allah (Glorified be Allah)].
67 بَابُ فَضْلِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:Chapter. The superiority of Dhikr of Allah (remembering Allah i.e., glorifying and praising Him, etc.).
68 بَابُ قَوْلِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ:Chapter. What is said regarding the statement: ‘La haula wa la quwwata ill billah’ (i.e., There is neither might nor power except with Allah).
69 بَابُ لِلَّهِ مِائَةُ اسْمٍ غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ:Chapter. Allah has one hundred Names less one (i.e., 99).
70 بَابُ الْمَوْعِظَةِ سَاعَةً بَعْدَ سَاعَةٍ:Chapter. Preaching at intervals.
