بَابُ هَلْ يَرْجِعُ إِذَا رَأَى مُنْكَرًا فِي الدَّعْوَةِ:
Chapter. Should a person return if he sees something disapproved of (from the standpoint of religion) in the party?
Hadith 5181
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا اشْتَرَتْ نُمْرُقَةً فِيهَا تَصَاوِيرُ ، فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ عَلَى الْبَابِ فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ ، مَاذَا أَذْنَبْتُ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا بَالُ هَذِهِ النُّمْرُقَةِ ؟ قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : اشْتَرَيْتُهَا لَكَ لِتَقْعُدَ عَلَيْهَا وَتَوَسَّدَهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرِ يُعَذَّبُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ : أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ الْبَيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ الصُّوَرُ لَا تَدْخُلُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ " .
Narrated Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) I bought a cushion having on it pictures (of animals). When Allah's Apostle saw it, he stood at the door and did not enter. I noticed the sign of disapproval on his face and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I repent to Allah and His Apostle. What sin have I committed?' Allah's Apostle said. "What is this cushion?" I said, "I have bought it for you so that you may sit on it and recline on it." Allah's Apostle said, "The makers of these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them, 'Give life to what you have created (i.e., these pictures).' " The Prophet added, "The Angels of (Mercy) do not enter a house in which there are pictures (of animals).
وَرَأَى أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ صُورَةً فِي الْبَيْتِ فَرَجَعَ وَدَعَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ فَرَأَى فِي الْبَيْتِ سِتْرًا عَلَى الْجِدَارِ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : " غَلَبَنَا عَلَيْهِ النِّسَاءُ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ كُنْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ أَكُنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكَ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَطْعَمُ لَكُمْ طَعَامًا فَرَجَعَ " .
And Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a picture (image) in the house where a wedding feast was being held, so he turned back. Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) once invited Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) to a meal. (Abu Ayyub) saw a curtain hanging on the wall in his house. Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) (apologizing) said that the women had compelled us. Upon this, Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I feared this for other people, but I did not think this of you (that you would do such a thing). By Allah! I will not eat food at your place." So he turned back.
Hadith 5181
