SURAT HA MIN AIN SIN QAF or SURAT ASH-ASHURA, (The Consultation)

Hadith 4818
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ طَاوُسًا ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ : إِلا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى سورة الشورى آية 23 ، فَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ : قُرْبَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : " عَجِلْتَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ بَطْنٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ فِيهِمْ قَرَابَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : " إِلَّا أَنْ تَصِلُوا مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ مِنَ الْقَرَابَةِ " .
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: That he was asked (regarding): "Except to be kind to me for my Kinship with you.' (42.23) Sa`id bin Zubair (who was present then) said, "It means here (to show what is due for) the relatives of Muhammad." On that Ibn `Abbas said: you have hurried in giving the answer! There was no branch of the tribe of Quraish but the Prophet had relatives therein. The Prophet said, "I do not want anything from (you ) except to be Kind to me for my Kinship with you."
وَيُذْكَرُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: {عَقِيمًا} لاَ تَلِدُ. {رُوحًا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا} الْقُرْآنُ. وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ} نَسْلٌ بَعْدَ نَسْلٍ {لاَ حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا} لاَ خُصُومَةَ. {طَرْفٍ خَفِيٍّ} ذَلِيلٍ. وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ: {فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ} يَتَحَرَّكْنَ وَلاَ يَجْرِينَ فِي الْبَحْرِ. {شَرَعُوا} ابْتَدَعُوا.
The meaning of «عقيما‏» has been transmitted from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) as "barren." In «روحا من أمرنا‏», by «روح», the Holy Qur'an is meant. And Mujahid said, the meaning of «يذرؤكم فيه‏» is that one generation after another will continue to spread. «لا حجة بيننا‏» means that now there is no dispute left between us and you. «طرف خفي‏» means from the view of the weak, from a furtive glance. Others have said, the meaning of «فيظللن رواكد على ظهره‏» is that they keep moving at their place due to the blows of the waves, neither advancing nor retreating. «شرعوا‏» means to invent a new religion.
