Hadith 4606
«حرم» is the plural of «حرام » (that is, while in the state of Ihram). By «فبما نقضهم», what is meant by «ميثاقهم» is that they did not carry out the command Allah had given them to enter Bayt al-Maqdis. «تبوء باثمى» means "then you will bear my sin." The meaning of «دائرة» is the turning of time. And other people have said that the meaning of «إغراء» is to impose, to cast. «أجورهن» means their seals. The meaning of «المهيمن» is trustworthy (guardian); the Qur'an is as if it is the protector of the previous heavenly books. Sufyan al-Thawri said, "There is no verse in the entire Qur'an that is more severe upon me than this verse: «لستم على شيء حتى تقيموا التوراة ، والإنجيل» etc." (Because in this verse it is stated that until one firmly acts upon all the commands in accordance with Allah's Book, his religion and faith are not worthy of consideration.) The meaning of «مخمصة» is hunger. «من أحياها» means that whoever considers it unlawful to shed a person's blood unjustly, it is as if all people remain alive because of him. By «شرعة ومنهاجا», path and way are meant.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that by «مخمصة» is meant hunger.

Narrated Tariq bin Shihab: The Jews said to `Umar, "You (i.e. Muslims) recite a Verse, and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken the day of its revelation as a day of celebration." `Umar said, "I know very well when and where it was revealed, and where Allah's Messenger was when it was revealed. (It was revealed on) the day of `Arafat (Hajj Day), and by Allah, I was at `Arafat" Sufyan, a sub-narrator said: I am in doubt whether the Verse:-- "This day I have perfected your religion for you." was revealed on a Friday or not.
