Narrated Abu Sa`id: The Prophet said, 'People will be struck unconscious on the Day of Resurrection and I will be the first to regain consciousness, and behold! There I will see Moses holding one of the pillars of Allah's Throne. I will wonder whether he has become conscious before me of he has been exempted, because of his unconsciousness at the Tur (mountain) which he received (on the earth).
The Arabs say «دكه» meaning he shook it. From this is (in Surah Al-Haqqah) «فدكتا»«دكه». The dual form is correct here because the mountains are considered as one thing and the earth as another. According to the rule, it should have been «فدككن» in the plural form. Its example is what is in Surah Al-Anbiya: «أن السموات والأرض كانتا رتقا», and it was not said «كن. رتقابه» in the plural form (although analogy would require this). «رتقا» means joined together, connected. «أشربوا» (which is in Surah Al-Baqarah) is derived from «شرب», which comes in the meaning of dyeing, as the Arabs say «ثوب»«مشرب», meaning dyed cloth. (In Surah Al-A'raf) «نتقنا» means it was taken away from us.
