بَابُ فَضْلُ الْجِهَادِ وَالسِّيَرِ:
Chapter. The superiority of Jihad.
Hadith 2782
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَبَّاحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَابِقٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْعَيْزَارِ ذَكَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، سَأَلْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى مِيقَاتِهَا ، قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيٌّ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ ، قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيٌّ ، قَالَ : الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَسَكَتُّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي " .
Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: I asked Allah's Apostle, "O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed?" He replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times." I asked, "What is next in goodness?" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents." I further asked, what is next in goodness?" He replied, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.
وَقَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى إِنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرَى مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالإِنْجِيلِ وَالْقُرْءَانِ وَمَنْ أَوْفَى بِعَهْدِهِ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَاسْتَبْشِرُوا بِبَيْعِكُمُ الَّذِي بَايَعْتُمْ بِهِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سورة التوبة آية 111 - 112 قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ الْحُدُودُ : الطَّاعَةُ .
And Allah the Exalted has said: «إن الله اشترى من المؤمنين أنفسهم وأموالهم بأن لهم الجنة يقاتلون في سبيل الله فيقتلون ويقتلون وعدا عليه حقا في التوراة والإنجيل والقرآن ومن أوفى بعهده من الله فاستبشروا ببيعكم الذي بايعتم به» "Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted with Him." Until the end of the verse «وبشر المؤمنين». Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that by the limits of Allah is meant obedience to His commands.
Hadith 2782

Hadith 2783
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا هِجْرَةَ بَعْدَ الْفَتْحِ وَلَكِنْ جِهَادٌ وَنِيَّةٌ ، وَإِذَا اسْتُنْفِرْتُمْ فَانْفِرُوا " .
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, "There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.
Hadith 2784
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِتُرَى الْجِهَادَ أَفْضَلَ الْعَمَلِ أَفَلَا نُجَاهِدُ ، قَالَ : لَكِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْجِهَادِ حَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ " .
Narrated `Aisha: (That she said), "O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not fight in Allah's Cause?" He said, "The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj-Mabrur (i.e. Hajj which is done according to the Prophet's tradition and is accepted by Allah).
Hadith 2785
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُحَادَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو حَصِينٍ أَنَّ ذَكْوَانَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ يَعْدِلُ الْجِهَادَ ، قَالَ : لَا أَجِدُهُ ، قَالَ : هَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ إِذَا خَرَجَ الْمُجَاهِدُ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ مَسْجِدَكَ فَتَقُومَ ، وَلَا تَفْتُرَ ، وَتَصُومَ ، وَلَا تُفْطِرَ ، قَالَ : وَمَنْ يَسْتَطِيعُ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : إِنَّ فَرَسَ الْمُجَاهِدِ لَيَسْتَنُّ فِي طِوَلِهِ ، فَيُكْتَبُ لَهُ حَسَنَاتٍ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, "Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward)." He replied, "I do not find such a deed." Then he added, "Can you, while the Muslim fighter is in the battle-field, enter your mosque to perform prayers without cease and fast and never break your fast?" The man said, "But who can do that?" Abu- Huraira added, "The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders bout (for grazing) tied in a long rope."
