Hadith 2440
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Apostle said, "When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge in between Hell and Paradise where they will retaliate upon each other for the injustices done among them in the world, and when they get purified of all their sins, they will be admitted into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hands the life of Muhammad is everybody will recognize his dwelling in Paradise better than he recognizes his dwelling in this world."
And Allah the Exalted has said in Surah Ibrahim: "And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror. They will be racing forward with their heads raised up." «مقنع » and «مقمح» both have the same meaning. Mujahid said that the meaning of «مهطعين‏» is "those who look fixedly," and it is also said that the meaning of «مهطعين‏» is "one who runs quickly." Their gaze will not return to them, and their hearts will be void (of sense), so that no intellect will remain. And Allah the Exalted's statement: "O Muhammad! Warn the people of the Day when the punishment will come upon them. Those who did wrong will say, 'Our Lord! Delay us for a short term, we will answer Your call and follow the messengers.' (It will be said to them:) 'Did you not swear before that there would be no end for you? And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them, and We presented to you many examples.' They plotted their plots, but their plots are with Allah, even if their plots were such that mountains could be moved thereby (yet they were fruitless). So never think that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Verily, Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite."
