2 hadith
Hadith 1924
Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa`: Once the Prophet ordered a person on 'Ashura' (the tenth of Muharram) to announce, "Whoever has eaten, should not eat any more, but fast, and who has not eaten should not eat, but complete his fast (till the end of the day).
And Umm al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) said that Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) would ask her, "Do you have any food with you?" If we replied that there was nothing, he would say, "Then today I will fast." Similarly, Abu Talha, Abu Huraira, Ibn Abbas, and Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with them) also did the same.
