Chapter. Whoever sold his fruits, his date-palm trees, his land or his crops and the Ushr or Zakat was due on them, and gave Zakat from some other property, or sold his fruits when Zakat was due.
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet had forbidden the sale of dates till they were good (ripe), and when it was asked what it meant, the Prophet said, "Till there is no danger of blight."
And the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not sell fruits until their ripeness is evident." And after their ripeness is evident, the Prophet (ﷺ) did not prohibit selling them. Nor did he say that if zakat has become obligatory, then do not sell, and if it has not become obligatory, then sell.
