بَابُ قِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى تَرِمَ قَدَمَاهُ:
Chapter. Standing of the Prophet ﷺ [for the Salat (prayer)] at night.
Hadith 1130
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ ، عَنْ زِيَادٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , يَقُولُ : " إِنْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَقُومُ لِيُصَلِّيَ حَتَّى تَرِمُ قَدَمَاهُ أَوْ سَاقَاهُ , فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : فَيَقُولُ : أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا " .
Narrated Al-Mughira: The Prophet used to stand (in the prayer) or pray till both his feet or legs swelled. He was asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) and he said, "should I not be a thankful slave."
وَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا كَانَ يَقُومُ حَتَّى تَفَطَّرَ قَدَمَاهُ وَالْفُطُورُ : الشُّقُوقُ , انْفَطَرَتْ : انْشَقَّتْ .
‘And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that’ your feet would crack. The meaning of «فطور» in the Arabic language is to crack, and in the Noble Quran the word «انفطرت» is from the same root, that is, when the sky is split apart.
