Chapter. The superiority of Tahajjud prayer (i.e. the night prayer).

Chapter. To perform a long prostration in the Tahajjud (night prayer).

Chapter. Leaving the night prayer by a patient.

5 بَابُ تَحْرِيضِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّوَافِلِ مِنْ غَيْرِ إِيجَابٍ:

Chapter. The Prophet’s ﷺ exhorting (the people) to Tahajjud and Nawafil without making them compulsory.

6 بَابُ قِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى تَرِمَ قَدَمَاهُ:

Chapter. Standing of the Prophet ﷺ [for the Salat (prayer)] at night.

7 بَابُ مَنْ نَامَ عِنْدَ السَّحَرِ:

Chapter. Sleeping in the last hours of the night.

8 بَابُ مَنْ تَسَحَّرَ فَلَمْ يَنَمْ حَتَّى صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ:

Chapter. Whoever took the Suhur (the meal taken before dawn in the month of Ramadan) and did not sleep before offering Fajr prayers.

9 بَابُ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ فِي صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ:

Chapter. To prolong the standing posture in the Tahajjud prayer.

10 بَابُ كَيْفَ كَانَ صَلاَةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَمْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ:

Chapter. How was the Salat (Tahajjud prayer) of the Prophet ﷺ and how many Raka, he used to offer at night?

11 بَابُ قِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَنَوْمِهِ وَمَا نُسِخَ مِنْ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ:

Chapter. The waking up of the Prophet ﷺ from his sleep for the night prayer and what (how much) was cancelled from the night prayer.

12 بَابُ عَقْدِ الشَّيْطَانِ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ الرَّأْسِ إِذَا لَمْ يُصَلِّ بِاللَّيْلِ:

Chapter. Satan’s tying of knots at the back of the head if one does not offer the night prayer.

13 بَابُ إِذَا نَامَ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ بَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُذُنِهِ:

Chapter. If one sleeps and does not offer Salat (prayer), Satan urinates in his ears.

14 بَابُ الدُّعَاءِ وَالصَّلاَةِ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ:

Chapter. Offering Salat (prayer) and invoking Allah in the last hours of the night.

15 بَابُ مَنْ نَامَ أَوَّلَ اللَّيْلِ وَأَحْيَا آخِرَهُ:

Chapter. Sleeping in the first part of the night and getting up in its last part.

16 بَابُ قِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَغَيْرِهِ:

Chapter. The Salat (prayer) of the Prophet ﷺ at night in Ramadan and (in) other months.

17 بَابُ فَضْلِ الطُّهُورِ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَفَضْلِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ:

Chapter. The superiority of remaining with ablution during the day and night and the superiorit of offering As-Salat (prayers) after ablution during the day and night.

18 بَابُ مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنَ التَّشْدِيدِ فِي الْعِبَادَةِ:

Chapter. It is disliked to exaggerate extremely in matters of worship.

19 بَابُ مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنْ تَرْكِ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَقُومُهُ:

Chapter. It is disliked for a person to leave offering the night SaIat after he has been used to (offering) it.

21 بَابُ فَضْلِ مَنْ تَعَارَّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى:

Chapter. The superiority of one who wakes up at night and offers the Salat (prayer) with a loud voice.

22 بَابُ الْمُدَاوَمَةِ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ:

Chapter. Regularity of two Raka (Sunna) of the Fajr prayer.

23 بَابُ الضِّجْعَةِ عَلَى الشِّقِّ الأَيْمَنِ بَعْدَ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ:

Chapter. To lie down on the right side after offering two Raka (Sunna) of the Fajr prayer.

24 بَابُ مَنْ تَحَدَّثَ بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ وَلَمْ يَضْطَجِعْ:

Chapter. Whoever talks after offering two Raka (Sunna) (of the Fajr prayer) and does not lie down.

Chapter. What is said about the Nawafil being offered as two Raka followed by two and so on.

Chapter. To talk after offering two Raka (Sunna of the Fajr prayer).

Chapter. To offer two Rakat (Sunna) before the Fajr prayer and whoever called them Nawafil.

28 بَابُ مَا يُقْرَأُ فِي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ:

Chapter. What is recited in the two Raka (Sunna) of the Fajr prayer.

29 بَابُ التَّطَوُّعِ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ:

Chapter. To offer the Nawafil after the compulsory (congregational) Salat (prayers).

30 بَابُ مَنْ لَمْ يَتَطَوَّعْ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ:

Chapter. Whoever did not offer the Salat (prayer) after the prescribed complusory (congregational) SaIat.

Chapter. To offer the Salat-ut-Duha (forenoon prayer) in journey.

32 بَابُ مَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ الضُّحَى وَرَآهُ وَاسِعًا:

Chapter. Whoever did not offer the Duha prayer and thought it premissible (to offer it).

33 بَابُ صَلاَةِ الضُّحَى فِي الْحَضَرِ:

Chapter. To offer SaIat-ud- Duha when one is not travelling.

Chapter. To offer two Raka before the Zuhr prayer.

Chapter. The (optional) Salat (prayer) before the Maghrib prayers.

Chapter. To offer Nawafil in congregation.
