Hadith Commentary:
(1)
From this hadith, it is understood that the position of women is behind that of men, but this is in the case when, as in the era of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), the arrangement is in a single hall for both. However, when there is a separate hall for women apart from men, or the arrangement is in a gallery on another floor, then the issue of being in front or behind no longer applies, because there is no exposure (unveiling) there, which was the reason for arranging women in the back rows.
(2)
It is also established from this that the row of a single woman is considered complete; it is not necessary for another woman to stand with her.
It should be noted that the name of the orphan boy who stood with Anas (radi Allahu anhu) is Dhumayrah.
