Hadith 7522

And (in Surah Al-Anbiya) He said «ما يأتيهم من ذكر من ربهم محدث‏»: "No new command comes to them from their Lord..." And Allah the Exalted said (in Surah At-Talaq) «لعل الله يحدث بعد ذلك أمرا»: "It may be that Allah will bring about a new matter after that." The only point is that Allah's bringing about a new matter is not similar to the creation's bringing about something new. Because Allah the Exalted said (in Surah Ash-Shura) «ليس كمثله شىء وهو السميع البصير‏»: "There is nothing like unto Him (neither in essence nor in attributes), and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing." And Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): that Allah the Exalted gives whatever new command He wills, and He has given the new command that you should not speak during prayer.
Narrated `Ikrima: Ibn `Abbas said, "How can you ask the people of the Scriptures about their Books while you have Allah's Book (the Qur'an) which is the most recent of the Books revealed by Allah, and you read it in its pure undistorted form?"

Chapter of Sahih Bukhari Hadith Number: 7522: «
Relevance between the Chapter and the Hadith:
Various commentators have presented the relevance between the chapter and the hadith from different perspectives.
In the view of this humble and insignificant servant, it appears that Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, in a very subtle manner, is pointing towards a very significant issue: the blessed verses that he has presented make it clear that Allah Ta'ala, whenever He wills and however He wills, can send down a new command and decide as He wishes. However, His command that is revealed in the Qur'an or in the hadith is a definitive decision; no one else can intervene in it, nor does anyone have the authority to issue a new command according to their own will. To establish this, he has presented the hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu, which clearly indicates that whatever is «ذكر من ربهم محدث» from Allah Ta'ala will be completely preserved. The hadith selected under the chapter heading, narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma, expresses dislike for asking the People of the Book about issues concerning their scriptures. This is evidence that the scripture of the People of the Book has become mixed, but the Book of Allah, whose protection Allah Himself has taken responsibility for, is completely preserved.
In reality, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah may also intend to indicate that the actions of the servants are created, and for this reason, they do not remain protected, just as the scripture of the People of the Book under the chapter heading, because it is filled with alterations and distortions. Therefore, this hadith indicates that actions that originate from the servants—how can they be enduring? But those actions that are from Allah—they alone are complete and preserved.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah, while explaining the relevance between the chapter and the hadith, writes:
“The last possibility is closer to the intent of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, as previously mentioned, that his chapter headings are based on establishing the fact that the actions of the servants are created, and here his intent is that, in relation to revelation, it is originated (muhdath).”

Allamah Abdul Haq al-Hashimi rahimahullah says:
“Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, according to his habit, has indicated towards the words of the hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma that «وكتابكم الذى أنزل الله عليكم أحدث الأخبار بالله», therefore, this is more deserving of being the intent of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah.”
