Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith, a divine statement is mentioned which every Muslim should remember. May Allah, the Exalted, grant all of us the blessing of remembering it at the final moment. This is a hadith qudsi, and the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has narrated it on the authority of Allah, the Exalted.
The meaning of this hadith is that at the time of death, when a believing servant sees his end and witnesses the flowing rivers of pure drink (sharab tahur) in Paradise, his heart becomes restless with longing to meet Allah, the Exalted. In such a state, Allah, the Exalted, also loves to meet him. Conversely, when a criminal person, at the time of death, sees the torments of Hell which he will face after death, he becomes fearful of dying. In such circumstances, Allah, the Exalted, also dislikes meeting him.
May Allah, the Exalted, grant all of us a good ending upon faith. Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.
