Hadith 7459

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba: I heard the Prophet saying, "Some people from my followers will continue to be victorious over others till Allah's Order (The Hour) is established." (See Hadith No. 414)

Explanation & Benefits

Hadith Commentary:
This refers to the group that has made "what I and my Companions are upon" their guiding principle.
By this, the true Ahl al-Hadith (People of Hadith) are meant—those who, within the Ummah, have remained protected from sectarianism and have adopted only "Allah said" and "the Messenger said" as their creed and school of thought, and have made monotheism (tawhid) and the Sunnah their way.

Their saying is:
"We are Ahl al-Hadith; we do not recognize any other refuge. A hundred thanks that in our school there is no trickery or artifice."
The four Imams and many other distinguished jurists (fuqaha) are also included among them—those who did not make blind following (taqlid) their hallmark.

May Allah increase their efforts (Amin).

Hadith Commentary:
This is not in contradiction to the other hadith in which it is stated that the Day of Judgment will be established upon the worst of Allah’s creation, because those worst people will be in one place and this group will be in another place. Or, in this hadith, by “the command of Allah” it is meant that until the Day of Judgment draws near, then shortly before the Day of Judgment, the people of this group will die, and only the purely evil people will remain. As mentioned in another hadith, near the Day of Judgment, a wind will blow by which the soul of every believer will be taken.

Hadith Commentary:

By "dominance" here is meant intellectual, practical, and moral dominance.
It is not necessary that the reins of government be in their hands; in any case, it is a fact that for the elevation of the true religion, a group will remain engaged in struggle until the Day of Resurrection, and the opposition of others will not harm them in any way.
They will continue to defend the religion with arguments and proofs.

In one hadith it is stated:
The Hour will be established upon the most wicked people, and they will be more wicked than the disbelievers of the Age of Ignorance.
Whenever they supplicate to Allah, Allah will reject their supplication.
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Imarah, Hadith: 4957(1924))
This hadith is not contrary to the aforementioned hadith, because the worst and most wicked people will be in one place, and the group defending the truth will be in another place, as in one hadith their location is indicated: the group defending the truth will be in Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) and its surrounding areas.
(Musnad Ahmad: 269/5)
It is also possible that before the Hour, Allah will take up those who defend the truth, and then the Hour will be established upon the worst people, as in one hadith it is mentioned that near the Hour, a wind will blow by which the soul of every believer will be taken, and this view is more preponderant.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
By this hadith, the Ahl al-Hadith are intended.
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal rahimahullah states that if the Ahl al-Hadith are not meant by this, then I cannot understand who else could be intended.
