Narrated Abu Huraira: While we were in the mosque, Allah's Apostle came out and said, "Let us proceed to the Jews." So we went out with him till we came to Bait-al-Midras. The Prophet stood up there and called them, saying, "O assembly of Jews! Surrender to Allah (embrace Islam) and you will be safe!" They said, "You have conveyed Allah's message, O Aba-al-Qasim" Allah's Apostle then said to them, "That is what I want; embrace Islam and you will be safe." They said, "You have conveyed the message, O Aba-al- Qasim." Allah's Apostle then said to them, "That is what I want," and repeated his words for the third time and added, "Know that the earth is for Allah and I want to exile you from this land, so whoever among you has property he should sell it, otherwise, know that the land is for Allah and His Apostle."

Hadith Commentary:

Bayt al-Madaris was the Jewish educational institution where they used to teach and study the Torah.

Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has matched both parts of the established chapter heading with this, in such a way that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam preached to the Jews and repeatedly invited them to Islam.
They only replied that you have conveyed your message, but they did not accept the words of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Nor did they believe in obeying him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
The repeated invitation of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to them is good debate (mujadalah), which is mentioned in this noble verse.
Ultimately, when they persisted in their stubbornness, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam issued his decree and ordered them to be exiled from there, because they had responded to the good debate of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in an evil manner.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
The Noble Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had already intended, during his blessed lifetime, to expel the Jews, but he passed away.
During his caliphate, due to their continual treachery and conspiracies, Umar (radi Allahu anhu) expelled them from there.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not consider the presence of non-Muslims in the land of Arabia to be appropriate; therefore, he intended to expel the Jews because he had already tested Banu Nadir, and they had deceived him and attempted to kill him by dropping a stone upon him. The other Jews were still residing in Khaybar when, at the very moment of his passing, revelation came, so he said:
“Do not allow two religions to remain in the land of Arabia.”
(al-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Bayhaqi: 115/6)
Accordingly, during his caliphate, Umar (radi Allahu anhu) said to the Jews:
Whoever has a covenant and pact with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), let him come to me; otherwise, I will expel you from here. Thus, they were expelled from the Arabian Peninsula.

2.
The meaning of the hadith is that if you have possessions which you cannot take with you, then sell them.
If you do not pay attention to what I am saying, then be certain that the land belongs to Allah, and Allah wills that the Muslims become the inheritors of this land; therefore, leave these areas and go elsewhere.
