Hadith 7300

Narrated Ibrahim At Taimi's father: `Ali addressed us while he was standing on a brick pulpit and carrying a sword from which was hanging a scroll He said "By Allah, we have no book to read except Allah's Book and whatever is on this scroll," And then he unrolled it, and behold, in it was written what sort of camels were to be given as blood money, and there was also written in it: 'Medina is a sanctuary form 'Air (mountain) to such and such place so whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits a sin therein, he will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people and Allah will not accept his compulsory or optional good deeds.' There was also written in it: 'The asylum (pledge of protection) granted by any Muslims is one and the same, (even a Muslim of the lowest status is to be secured and respected by all the other Muslims, and whoever betrays a Muslim in this respect (by violating the pledge) will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will not accept his compulsory or optional good deeds.' There was also written in it: 'Whoever (freed slave) befriends (takes as masters) other than his real masters (manumitters) without their permission will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will not accept his compulsory or optional good deeds. ' (See Hadith No. 94, Vol. 3)

Hadith Commentary:
The meaning of the chapter is derived from here, and although in the hadith there is a restriction regarding this place, the ruling on innovation (bid‘ah) is the same everywhere.
In another narration, it is stated as follows: it also included that whoever slaughters (an animal) for the veneration of anyone other than Allah, upon him is the curse of Allah; and whoever steals a boundary marker of the land, upon him is the curse of Allah; and whoever curses his father, upon him is the curse of Allah; and whoever gives shelter to an innovator (mubtadi‘), upon him is the curse of Allah.
From this hadith, it is also derived that the Shia, who attribute many books to Sayyiduna Amir (radi Allahu anhu), such as the Sahifa Kamilah and others, or who believe that Sayyiduna Amir had a Qur’an other than this prevalent Qur’an, are liars.
Similarly, Surah ‘Ali, which some Shia have transmitted in their books—
may the curse of Allah be upon its fabricator.
However, from some narrations it is established only to the extent that the arrangement of Sayyiduna Amir’s Qur’an was different, i.e., according to the chronological order of revelation, and a Tabi‘i says that if this Qur’an had been present, we would have gained much benefit, i.e., the precedence and succession of the surahs would have become known.
Otherwise, the Qur’an is exactly what is prevalent now.
There was no surah in it beyond this.

Hadith Commentary:
There are several forms of excessiveness (ghuluww) in religion, among which is the propagation of innovation (bid‘ah), that is, spreading and popularizing innovations. Thus, in the chapter heading, the propagation and dissemination of innovations is also mentioned. Accordingly, in this hadith it is stated that whoever introduces an innovation (bid‘ah) in the sanctuary of Madinah or gives shelter to an innovator (mubtadi‘), upon him is the curse of Allah, His angels, and all people.

In this manuscript, it was also mentioned that whoever slaughters an animal for the veneration of anyone other than Allah, upon him is the curse of Allah.

Whoever alters the landmarks of the land is also accursed, and whoever curses his own father, upon him is also the curse of Allah. In any case, this contains a statement regarding the filth and evil of propagating innovations and giving shelter to an innovator, which is a form of excessiveness (ghuluww) and transgression in religion.

For this reason, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has narrated this hadith.
