Hadith Commentary:
1.
In reality, when Ibn Ziyad and Marwan took control of the region of Sham, and Abdullah bin Zubair radi Allahu anhu took control of Makkah, and the Khawarij seized Basrah, Abu Minhal went with his father to Abu Barzah al-Aslami radi Allahu anhu and informed him of the situation. He said:
The reason I am displeased with the people is solely for the sake of Allah; may Allah grant me its reward.
O people of Arabia! You know well what your condition was: you were all afflicted with humiliation, scarcity, and misguidance.
Allah, through Islam and Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, granted you honor and delivered you from that wretched state, but then this world corrupted you.
Look! This person who has become ruler in Sham is fighting for the sake of the world.
These people who are before you are also fighting for the world, and the one in Makkah—by Allah!—he too is engaged in fighting for the sake of worldly gain.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Fitan, Hadith: 7112)
2.
The purpose is that you were humiliated, few in number, and needy.
As a result of acting upon the Book and the Sunnah, you attained worldly honor, abundance, and wealth; therefore, remain steadfast upon Islam, otherwise you will face humiliation and disgrace.
3.
From this it is understood that Imam Bukhari rahimahullah wrote a separate book, "al-I'tisam," from which he has transmitted hadiths in his Sahih.
And Allah knows best.
