Narrated Anas bin Malik: I used to offer drinks prepared from infused dates to Abu Talha Al-Ansari, Abu 'Ubada bin Al Jarrah and Ubai bin Ka`b. Then a person came to them and said, "All alcoholic drinks have been prohibited." Abii Talha then said, "O Anas! Get up and break all these jars." So I got up and took a mortar belonging to us, and hit the jars with its lower part till they broke.

Hadith Commentary:
SubhanAllah! The honesty and piety of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum)—if only one’s faith could be like theirs.
The relevance to the chapter is clear: the prohibition of alcohol was accepted based on the report of a single person.
From this, the permissibility of acting upon a solitary report (khabar wahid) is also established.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
In this hadith, one can observe the piety and honesty of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in), that upon the report of a single man, they abandoned the consumption of alcohol and broke the jars of wine. Thus, in one narration it is stated:
“They did not ask that man anything, nor did they argue or dispute with him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Tafsir, Hadith: 461)
➋
From this, the conduct of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) is also evident: that in their view, a solitary report (khabar wahid) was authoritative and actionable. Those who deny its authority are, in effect, rejecting the practice of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in). Furthermore, this solitary report—whether it pertains to creed or to action and conduct—must be acted upon without making such distinctions. This differentiation is a much later innovation.
And Allah is the One whose help is sought.
