Hadith 7108

Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "If Allah sends punishment upon a nation then it befalls upon the whole population indiscriminately and then they will be resurrected (and judged) according to their deeds. "

Hadith Commentary:

The same reality has been expressed in the Qur’anic verse
It is truly said that along with the chickpeas, the wheat also gets ground.

Hadith Commentary:

By presenting this hadith, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah intends to show that not all those involved in the Battle of Jamal or the Battle of Siffin were supporters or opponents of either side; certainly, there were some who were forced into the battle. If they happened to lose their lives in the battle, then on the Day of Judgment, they will be dealt with according to their intentions. For example:
When the roof of a house collapses or an earthquake strikes, not only the wicked are caught in it, but righteous people also perish, as it is said:
Along with the chickpeas, the husk is also ground.

In any case, when the era of tribulations (fitan) comes, everyone is caught up in it. Therefore, a person should never be negligent in fulfilling the duty of enjoining good (amr bil-ma'ruf) and forbidding evil (nahy 'an al-munkar).
One who is complacent, lazy, pleased at seeing such things, or one who stirs up tribulations—such a person is not liked by Allah Ta'ala.
We seek safety from Allah Ta'ala.
