Hadith 7067

Ibn Mas`ud added: I heard Allah's Apostle saying; (It will be) from among the most wicked people who will be living at the time when the Hour will be established."

Hadith Commentary:
The disappearance of religious knowledge is a sign of the Day of Judgment.
When religious knowledge will be taken away and only ignorant people will remain, the Day of Judgment will be established upon them.

Hadith Commentary:
In one hadith it is stated:
“A group will remain alive, fighting in support of the truth until the Day of Resurrection.”
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Iman 395(156))

This appears to mean that the Day of Resurrection will be established even upon great virtuous people. However, according to our inclination, the Day of Resurrection will be established only upon wicked people. And before that, the righteous will be taken away, as mentioned in a hadith:
“Before the Day of Resurrection, a pure wind will blow, and the soul of every believing man and believing woman will be taken; then only the wicked will remain in the world, and they will commit adultery in the streets like donkeys, and upon those people the Day of Resurrection will be established.”
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Fitan: 7373(2937))

This means that until the blowing of the pure wind, virtuous people will remain alive, then corruption will spread, and the Day of Resurrection will be established upon the corrupt people. In one narration it is stated:
“The Day of Resurrection will come when there will not remain anyone in the world who says ‘Allah, Allah.’”
