And the mention of the Prophet (ﷺ) warning his Ummah about tribulations.
Narrated Asma': The Prophet said, "I will be at my Lake-Fount (Kauthar) waiting for whoever will come to me. Then some people will be taken away from me whereupon I will say, 'My followers!' It will be said, 'You do not know they turned Apostates as renegades (deserted their religion).'" (Ibn Abi Mulaika said, "Allah, we seek refuge with You from turning on our heels from the (Islamic) religion and from being put to trial").

Hadith Commentary:
Those who study these ahadith must reflect carefully so that they do not become involved in any kind of innovation (bid‘ah) and thereby deprive themselves of the intercession (shafa‘ah) of the Noble Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Bid‘ah is that most evil deed by which all the good deeds of a Muslim are rendered void, and the innovator (mubtadi‘) will be deprived of the Pond of Kawthar and the intercession of the Prophet, becoming utterly disappointed and ruined. O Allah! Protect us from every innovation and every evil deed, Ameen.
O Allah! Regarding this hadith, we too seek Your refuge that we do not turn back on our heels, that is, turn away from the religion.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
This hadith shows that the greatest tribulation (fitnah) in Islam is that a person commits an innovation (bid‘ah) and thus turns away from the religion of Islam.
As a consequence of this crime, a person can be deprived of the intercession (shafa‘ah) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and his good deeds may be rendered void.
➋
We too, like Ibn Abi Mulaykah (rahimahullah), supplicate before Allah Almighty.
O Allah! We also seek Your protection; do not let us turn back on our heels, nor let us be destroyed by falling into any tribulation (fitnah).
Amin, O Lord of the worlds.
